A single-player horror investigation game, inspired by Phasmophobia. You are a paranormal investigator trapped in a haunted cabin. You must use your equipment to identify the ghost haunting the cabin, as well as capture any strange occurrences with your camera. Be careful to not get caught by the ghost.

About the Game
This was a solo project for my Media Device Architecture class at Georgia Tech. The game was coded from scratch in C to run on a Game Boy Advance emulator.
Objective
Collect all ritual items scattered around the haunted cabin to escape. Earn more points by correctly identifying the ghost, capturing strange occurrences, and evading ghost attacks. Based on a number of points, the player may earn a bronze, silver, or gold ranking.

Game Mechanics
Ritual Items
In order to escape, the player must collect all six Ritual Items and bring them to the Altar.
Equipped Items
The player starts with three items and can equip one of them at a time:
-
EMF Reader: helps the player find the "Ghost Hotspot"
-
Salt Gun: Can kill the ghost and end Ghost Attacks
-
Camera: Can capture Strange Occurences
Identifying a Ghost
Players must utilize Equipment (thermometer, ghost writing book, video recorder, spirit box, UV light, EMF reader) and the Ghost Handbook to identify the ghost type.
Ghost Attack
Over time, the Ghost Meter will fill up. Certain actions may cause the meter to fill up faster. At 100%, a Ghost Attack occurs, in which the ghost will spawn and wander the map. The ghost can chase the player. The player may choose to kill the monster, hide, or evade it until the Ghost Attack ends. If the player is caught by the Ghost, the game ends and the player loses.
Strange Occurences
Scattered throughout the map are Strange Occurrences that can be captured on the Camera for additional points.
